Installation at Visual Art Exchange in Raleigh
The nest represents the human habitat and the need for home and safety. It is supported by chairs that mimic how nests are supported by tree branches. Each chair is different just as each family member is unique and the chairs are placed to show how family members gather at the table and share their common bond.
The nest resting on the chairs implies how the true fiber of a family rests on the lap of each family member. From the center of the Generation Nest rises a child’s chair holding a smaller nest. As families grow, another generation begins as does the hope for the future and an opportunity for the immortality of a blood line.
