The Quilt Nest was built for the Artsplosure, Raleigh’s Spring Arts Festival 2019. It was a public activity that took place over a two-day period, where people who attended the festival were invited to take part in building the nest.

 

My family quilts were sewn using scraps of clothing. The love of family makes our home, not the wood and brick.

 

Our home community is also made of its people, not the buildings. So, as a symbol of people who build our community, we chose to build a quilt nest where people would add scraps of fabric to the nest walls to make it warm and inviting.
